Mechanical Assembler

Muhlbauer, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Assembler at its Newport News, Virginia location to support its Assembly Department.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Assembly of mechanical/ electrical/ machine sub-assemblies according to technical documents using proper assembly tools provided

Quality checks on own assembled machines/sub-assemblies to ensure the highest quality standards are maintained and improved

Error search, analysis, and error elimination with adequate checkback of modules assembled

Housekeeping of work area and assembly in general (parts/ sub-assemblies/ machines) arrangement, organizing work table, control and maintenance of chemical and tools cabinet

Transportation of heavy modules/ sub-assemblies/machines from one location to another with the assistance of readily available transportation equipment

Transportation equipment includes (but is not limited to) trolley, palette jack & automatic stacker

Handling of tooling machinery for material rework.

Machines include (but are not limited to) hand-drill, drilling machine, lathe machine, grinding machine and milling machine)

Performs checking on assembly sub-assemblies/ parts/ machines to ensure work quality is maintained and standardized between different person
-
Promote serial assembly and induce improvement ideas for the team to have a continuous improvement plan toward automated assembly

Ensures fully assembled & tested sub-assemblies/ parts/ machines are safely packed and segregated before handing over to the next relevant section/ department/ person in charge.

Ensures all relevant documentation is filled up before handing it over to the next relevant section/ department/ person in charge

Works together with Quality Assurance (QA) & Research & Development (R&D) Department to solve/ discuss common problems and solutions arising from suppliers or customers

Engage in hands-on alignment, troubleshooting, and testing of machines, parts/ sub-assemblies.

Perform verification/ root cause analysis on rejected and defective parts from internal and external customer and performs repair

Additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements, Education and Qualifications:

Minimum of High School Diploma
-
At least 2 years of working experience in a relevant field

Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office)

Basic understanding of Mechanical/Electrical technical documents
